As observant Jews, the first thing we do when traveling to a city is to find out where the synagogue is, and then to choose where to stay. The use of transportation, be it private or public, is not allowed on Shabbat and holidays, and therefore accommodations need to be within walking distance to a shul. The next issue is finding where to eat, another important concern of religious Jews.
The offer of kosher hotels in Barcelona is practically nonexistent. Tourists and visitors often struggle to find eateries and restaurants in our city. The rules of kashrut go beyond merely abstaining from pork and shellfish. Eating kosher-style food in a non-kosher establishment is not an option: even if the food items were allowed, they are cooked in pots that have been used to cook non-kosher meat. Similarly, the restaurant pots may have contained dairy products which, while kosher, violate one of the most distinctive precepts of kashrut: that of never mixing meat and dairy.
That is why Bet David offers to the observant visitor two kosher apartments, fully equipped with a kitchen and all amenities. One of these apartments can accommodate at least four people, while the other one is suitable for a single person or a couple.
